Mother’s Day DIY Stay-at-home Activities and Gifts Ideas for Mom
It’s hard to believe that Mother’s Day is less than two weeks away-Sunday, May 10, 2020. So this post is for all of you out there looking for that extra special something to-do while at home with Mom, or that extra special something to get our favorite person, Mom. I mean let’s face it, Mom has been wearing a ton of hats lately, and we here at illi say get her something she will “literally love”. By literally love, we mean that “omg” moment that she looks at you and smiles, and says, “Really, you got this (or did) for me? You didn’t have to…” So here are some ideas of things you can do at home with mom, the kiddos, and anyone else whom you want to include to honor and join on this Mother’s Day.
1. At Home Spa for Mom
Create a spa-like atmosphere by starting with some delightfully scented candles from Davis Street Merchantile. If Mom literally loves the candles, she can learn the in’s and out’s of candle making too by attending a workshop. After we’ve set the spa mood for Mom next we need to ensure she is comfy with a luxurious spa robe (monogramming available) and slippers.
Does Mom drink herbal tea? Perhaps a nice, warm cup of tea from a new teapot. Mom’s spa retreat would not be complete without luxurious bath products such as these salts and velvety lotion from Stanley Korshak. If these items don’t help Mom relax, there’s always luxury CBD bodycream. For a full list of CBD luxury items, check out The Zoe Report.
2. Make Mom a Homemade Brunch and Serve it to Her in Bed
Yes, she’ll appreciate it that much more. If you don’t have a waffle maker at home, you can get one to make Mom some great tasting, homemade waffles. Looking for the perfect mimosa glassware, we love these stemless champagne glasses to place on the bed tray for serving breakfast to Mom. Top off the breakfast with fresh flowers in a new vase.
3. Picnic in the Backyard or a Park
Let’s face it, getting out of the house these days is essential. Why not head to a local park, lake or nature preserve (or even the backyard) and pack a picnic lunch to celebrate Mom? We bet she’d love taking in nature with her favorite people! A picnic would not be complete without a picnic basket, so grab the food, a picnic basket, and don’t forget a blanket too.
4. Afternoon Tea in the Garden or Backyard
Set the stage for an afternoon tea in the backyard, or if the weather doesn’t agree, find a room in your home where you can create a spread of tea tastes and treats, complete with tea, coffee, and Mom’s favorite beverages. Not sure what to serve your tasty tea treats on, we found these serving platters complete with a footed metal stand. This serving platter comes complete with a dome to keep the pests at bay.
5. Bake a Treat with Mom
Spending a few hours in the kitchen together can be one of the most healthy and enjoyable things to do. It can help you foster in them a lifelong love of cooking and baking. Find your favorite recipe and these kid-friendly spatulas and let the fun begin!
